Warmer but breezy today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cloudy skies with the chance for a sprinkle or flurry. Highs will be warm in the 50’s. The one downside to today’s forecast is the wind. Winds will be from the NW at 20-30 mph with gusts over 30. I will do my roundup of next week’s weather tomorrow.

Happy Easter!

Last day of cold arrives today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cold temps as the wind will be off the water which is currently 38 degrees. Highs will get into the low to mid 40’s at best. The one plus is that skies will be sunny.

Friday morning forecast map 4-18

The weekend looks nice with Saturday being warm but cloudy and Sunday being cooler but sunny. 50’s both days. I do not anticipate more than a sprinkle or flurry for precipitation Saturday.

Snow moves out this morning leaving bitter cold in it’s wake

Hello everyone!

Winter never quits here in the state of Maine, we picked up around an inch of snow this morning and the winds are picking up out of the NW. This wind will make today very cold as highs may not reach 40. The one good side is that there will be plenty of sun.

Wednesday morning forecast map 4-16

I’m sad to report that temps will not warm up much over the next few days. The next time we have a shot at 50 will be Sunday. More rain arrives Saturday.

Heavy rain today

Hello everyone!

Over the course of the next 24 hours we will experience weather associated with all 4 seasons. This morning’s warm wind and mild temps might be reminiscent of spring while this afternoon’s warm(ish) rain might remind you of summer. Tonight, the winds flip to the NW and bitter cold air crashes into the departing moisture. As a result, we get snow and sleet, much like winter. Finally the cold winds we experience tomorrow morning could remind you of fall.

Today we see rain moving in later this morning as showers then turning heavy and steady this afternoon. Temps will be in the 60’s. South winds will be gusty possibly reaching 40 mph.

Tuesday morning forecast map 4-15

As the front slides eastward, cold air will catch up to the moisture. This has already happened across the country. To give you an idea of the scope of this front, areas a hundred miles north of Quebec city are receiving rain while northern Alabama is seeing flurries.

We get the snow tonight accumulating to a dusting, more of course in the mountains. Everything moves out around daybreak tomorrow.

Flood watches are in effect for the entire area as we will get another 1-2″ of rain which combined with the recent warmth and snowmelt could cause area rivers to flood. I will point you to the NWS for a more detailed discussion of the flood threat if you are interested.

Feeling like summer today

Hello everyone!

Today will be a warm one across Maine and New Hampshire as SW winds draw warm air up the coast. Highs will be in the 70’s across Southern New England extending all the way into SW Maine. 60’s will be common for northern areas.  We do have some fog out there now and that will burn off mid-morning as gusty WSW winds bring in drier air. Winds could gust over 30 mph.

Monday morning forecast map 4-14

Since everyone sees mostly sunny skies today, the different colors are mainly for temps.

Heavy rain arrives tomorrow and some areas pick up some snow Wednesday. there is the possibility for more snow next weekend with a coastal low. The main threat would be for inland areas.

A look at the week’s weather

Hello everyone!

Today will feature mild temps in the 40’s along with the chance for rain. Don’t be too unhappy though as northern areas will get an inch of snow. Rain will be most likely between 11 AM and 5 PM.

Tomorrow will feature a very warm day with many New Hampshire towns climbing well into the 70’s and most Maine towns comfortably in the 60’s. Some fog is expected east of Brunswick which could hold temps in the 50’s.

Tuesday will feature rain. Lots and lots of rain. Heavy rain is expected all day Tuesday as a cold front slowly approaches the area. Rainfall amounts will be between .75″ and 1.5″. This rain combines with today’s precip and weeks of warm weather will create a flood risk. A flood watch is in effect for the entire area so watch out for high water. Temps will be in the 50’s.

Wednesday we clear out and cool down. Temps are not expected to reach 50 as NW winds funnel cooler air in. Skies will be mostly sunny. Winds could gust above 15 mph at times.

Thursday and Friday will be very similar here in New England. Sunny skies, light winds and temps near 60 will be enjoyed to end the week. More rain is possible next weekend.

Clearing skies today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature clearing skies and another day of warm temps. Highs will be around 60 everywhere except maybe the far far north and the immediate coast. I highly advise going outdoors today as rain is in the forecast tomorrow, Tuesday, and maybe Wednesday. Enjoy!

I will do my roundup of next week’s weather tomorrow as I am off to the slopes today.

Spotty showers today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature 2 opportunities for rain depending on your location. Northern areas as well as the coast will see some light rain this morning associated with a cold front while the coast sees more rain this evening associated with a weak coastal storm.

Friday morning forecast map 4-11

Almost a week’s worth of weather today. Cloudy and rainy to start, partly cloudy between 9 and 2 before clouds increase ahead of a separate storm that brings rain tonight.

The weekend looks nice with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 50’s. Monday would be my pick for next week as inland towns have a shot at 70 and coastal towns get up above 60 under full sun.

All good things must come to and end however and heavy rain is expected both Tuesday and Wednesday before a return to the 40’s late next week.

Dry and warm today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature increasing clouds as a front approaches. Any precip will hold off until after dark. There is currently a band of clouds over Maine which is evident on the Infrared Satellite image which will move out over the ocean this morning leaving sunny skies.

It will be chilly to start this morning with current temps running in the 20’s. Don’t worry though because we will more than double them under mostly sunny skies by this afternoon.

IR map 4-10

Note the clouds back to our west. These clouds are associated with a cold front which will bring some rain tonight and tomorrow.

Thursday morning forecast map 4-10

Here is a look at today’s weather. Big temp difference at the immediate coast vs inland. An onshore wind will keep temps down at the coast.

The weekend looks nice but watch for increasing clouds Sunday ahead of a slow moving, moisture laden cold front for early next week. Heavy rainfall is expected.
