Unsettled Weather Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature unsettled weather as a large storm system develops to our west. The system’s warm front is currently producing showers across much of Western Maine as I write this shortly before 8 AM. These showers will gradually lift north today, and everyone can expect intermittent light/moderate rain for much of today as more showers move north out of Massachusetts. Later this afternoon/evening, the warm front will push north of the region, leading to a decrease in shower activity. Temps today will be quite warm due SW winds behind the front pushing a tropical airmass in our direction. Look for highs ranging from around 60 in the north to around 70 in SE NH.

If your family is heading out for some trick-or-treating this evening, be advised that scattered showers are possible, but it won’t be a washout. Temps in the 5-9 PM timeframe will be comfortably warm, in the low to mid 60’s for most.

A line of gusty showers will approach the region from the west late tonight before gusty westerly winds bring drier air back into the region tomorrow.

Still Stuck With The Low Clouds Today

Hello everyone!

Today we’ll remain stuck with the low cloud cover that we’ve been dealing with for the past couple days. Several stations are reporting some drizzle and fog associated with the low cloud deck this morning, so don’t be surprised if you run into some patches of low visibility on the roads over the next few hours.

A subtle wind shift from the SSE to SSW today will result in a slightly thinner cloud deck compared to yesterday, so we may actually see a few patches of sun especially in southwestern parts of the region. This patchy sunshine will help push temps a bit warmer than recent days, with highs ranging from 55 in the north to 65 in the south.

We should stay mostly dry through the day today with the exception of morning drizzle. Steadier and heavier rain will arrive tomorrow.

Another Dry And Cloudy Day Today

Hello everyone!

Today’s weather will look a lot like yesterday’s with dry conditions and cloudy skies. Today’s low clouds (and associated patchy drizzle/fog) will be brought to you by light southeasterly breezes bringing moisture in off the Gulf of Maine. As was the case yesterday, these clouds won’t be deep enough to produce any rain due to a lack of large-scale upward motion as we remain on the edge of relatively strong high pressure. High temps look pretty similar to those we saw yesterday, albeit a bit warmer, ranging from the upper 40’s in the north to the upper 50’s in southern NH.

Cool And Cloudy Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cool temps and cloudy skies as yesterday’s storm system meanders just to our east. The storm is too far east to bring us any rain today, but there’s a fairly thick low cloud deck that we’ll be stuck with for all of today, and much of tomorrow as well. In addition to the cloudiness, some patchy fog and drizzle is possible especially this morning. The aforementioned low clouds will keep temps on the cooler side with highs ranging from 45 in the north to 55 in SW NH.

Steady Rain Arrives Today

Hello everyone!

Our next storm system will arrive from the west today, and will bring another round of steady rain to the region. Rain is already falling across much of NH and far SW ME as of 8 AM, and rain will continue to spread NE over the next few hours. It’s possible that the first few raindrops actually fall as snowflakes or ice pellets in the mountains and foothills, but no accumulation is expected. High temps will be on the chillier side, ranging from the upper 30’s in the mountains to around 50 along the coast. Steady rain will be with us through the rest of the day before departing tonight.

Cooler And Quiet Today

Hello everyone!

High pressure will slide across the region today, resulting in cooler and quieter weather. Most of the area is reporting cloudy skies as of 9 AM, but some breaks in the clouds are likely over the next few hours before the next storm system begins spreading its cloudiness in our direction. No precipitation is expected anywhere in the region today. High temps will be on the cooler side, ranging from 45 in the north to just above 55 in the south.

More rain arrives tomorrow.

Cloudy But Dry Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cloudy skies and dry conditions as a weak mid level frontal boundary drifts overhead. Nearly the entire region will experience overcast skies today, with a few sunny breaks possible in the south. Thankfully, the low levels of the atmosphere will be quite dry so no precip is expected outside of a stray shower over the mountains this afternoon. High temps will be noticeably cooler than yesterday, ranging from 45 in the north to 60 in the south.
