Hello everyone!
Tis the season for discussions of rain and snow, along with developing coastal storms. A system is moving through the Great Lakes this morning, and it will redevelop off the New England coast this evening. Rain and snow can be expected as a result, with snow totals approaching the 6″ mark in the higher terrain near Sugarloaf (northeastern areas). Even areas that don’t see snow will see overcast skies, chilly temps, and north/northeasterly breezes as this system moves through.
Radar shows light snow already ongoing in the mountains from Berlin New Hampshire up to Dover-Foxcroft Maine. This light precipitation will linger through much of the morning, with accumulations possibly reaching 1″ by midday. The rest of the area will remain dry until a little after noon.
A line of steadier showers, potentially even including a rumble of thunder, will move into Western NH around noon, and will bring an increase in precipitation rate. This heavier rain will arrive in Maine by the early evening hours. As the storm develops over Downeast Maine, snow will continue to fall in the Mountains, especially those mountains farther north and east, tonight.
High temps will range from 35 in the north to 50 along the coast.
-Jack
