Heavy rain will be today’s main theme as a tropical airmass brought into the region by the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy fuels heavy downpours. Breaks in the overcast will develop across southern and western areas and that will enable temps in those regions to rise into the upper 80’s. Combined with tropical dew points, it will feel quite muggy across much of the region today. The combination of warm temps and abundant moisture will result in the formation of some showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. The main threat will be torrential downpours but a few cells could bring gusty winds as well. Temps in the northeastern half of the region will be cooler, generally in the 70’s though still quite muggy. The threat for thunderstorms drops off as you head north and east.
I’m leaving today for my annual Catskills retreat. I’ll be up in the woods until July 4th. Rumor has it that there may be internet access up there this year but that has yet to be confirmed. If I can get on, I’ll post and if not, I’ll be back on the 4th! Until then, I highly recommend the NWS, local TV stations (WCSH 6, WMTW 8, WGME 13), as well as my good friend Alex Reed at Western Maine Weather for weather information while I’m away. A quick look at the forecast suggests some unsettled weather especially in the afternoons this coming week. No big heat looks to be in the works and rain chances will never be too far away though we certainly won’t be under a deluge the whole time.
Today will feature warm temps and sunny skies as high pressure meanders overhead. Look for temps to rise into the mid 70’s north and mid 80’s south with light winds and clear skies. A pretty straightforward forecast! Enjoy the day!
Today will feature decreasing humidity and increasing sunshine as drier air moves into the region on warm SW winds. Temps will rise well into the 80’s for most with the mountains enjoying slightly more reasonable temps in the 70’s. A few pop up showers are possible this afternoon but they will be brief and widely scattered.
I’m off hiking in the Whites today and tomorrow so won’t have an update tomorrow morning. In any case, today will feature warm temps along with increasingly oppressive humidity as a cold front slowly drifts closer. Morning clouds should gradually be replaced by afternoon sunshine as temps rise into the 80’s for most, 70’s along the mid coast. It should be a mostly dry day though I can’t rule out a shower or storm in the mountains this afternoon.
Tomorrow will feature more hazy, hot, and humid weather with highs in the 80’s along with oppressive dew points. Storms will develop to our west in the early afternoon and will move east across the area tomorrow and into tomorrow night. These storms could be severe and will certainly feature heavy rain due to the tropical nature of the airmass. Be sure to keep an eye to the sky tomorrow.
Today will feature cloudy skies and widespread showers/moderate steady rain as a warm front drifts through the area. Unfortunately, there’s no warm air immediately behind the front but we’ll be feeling the heat by the time Sunday arrives. Highs today will only make it into the 60’s for most with a few spots along the midcoast and in the far north struggling even to hit the 60 degree mark. Showers will be most prevalent in the north and a few spots in far southern NH could manage to see a few sunny breaks as a mainly dry day evolves there.
Today will feature clear skies, low humidity, and cool temps as we reap the rewards of yesterday’s cold front. Look for highs ranging from the upper 60’s north to mid 70’s south under full sun. Even better, dew points will sink into the 30’s and 40’s meaning that yesterday’s oppressive humidity is now no more than a bad dream. Enjoy the beautiful weather, a rainier pattern is on the way beginning Friday.
Today will feature the triumphant passage of a cold front that will usher in much cooler air for tomorrow and the rest of the week. Unfortunately we have to suffer through one more day of heat as temps rise into the low/mid 90’s for most. Some upper 80’s are possible in the north where a cooler airmass will move in by this afternoon. The front will pass through mostly dry though some showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two are possible in southern areas this evening.
Today will feature more of the disgusting heat we suffered through yesterday. The so-called Ridge of Death is parked over the subtropical Atlantic and southwest winds on the western edge of that high are responsible for bringing in the heat and humidity. Temps today will again rise into the upper 80’s to mid 90’s. A few showers and storms are possible across northeast areas this afternoon though otherwise, clear skies are expected. Thankfully, relief is on the way as a backdoor cold front sweeps in from the north tomorrow. By Wednesday, the sun will be out as temps settle right around the 70 degree mark.
Today will feature sunny skies region wide as warm air begins to move into the region. Along the leading edge of the summertime warmth, a few showers and possibly a thunderstorm will be possible this afternoon. The best chance of this is across New Hampshire and far western Maine. Temps will rise into the 80’s for most of the area with some mid to upper 70’s across the immediate coast and in the mountains. Today’s lovely warmth turns oppressive tomorrow and into Monday before a backdoor cold front comes to the rescue Tuesday.
Today will feature clouds for almost everyone along with the chance for rain showers. Steady rain is ongoing this morning across the midcoast as a coastal low zooms by to our east. Meanwhile, a cold front is moving in from Canada bringing with it showers and thunderstorms currently located in the mountains. Both systems will be moving east with the steady rains of the midcoast departing to Nova Scotia and the showers of the mountains setting their sights on the coastline by this afternoon. Temps will generally be in the 70’s with some 60’s possible in the north. The best chance for sunshine will be in southwestern coastal areas this morning/early afternoon and in the mountains this evening. The big warmup begins tomorrow.
