Not much spring-like weather in the forecast today or for most of this week as the cold pattern continues. Today in particular will be cold despite temps starting in the 30’s. NW winds will, as they have done countless times this winter, be bringing in colder air and, like so many times before, the mountains get an inch or two of upslope snow while the coast clears out and warms up. Highs will range from freezing up in the mountains to 40’s at the coast.
The warmup for Friday is still on the schedule but 60 looks a little optimistic for this time around. Depending on storm track/strength, we may be tracking a rain/snow line once again this weekend, more details on that in later posts.
Today will feature some more snow showers/squalls especially this morning as a cold front approaches the area. Accumulations will be limited to a coating tops and even that is only likely in the mountains. The front moves through this afternoon and winds could briefly become gusty especially in the mountains where gusts up to or exceeding 30 mph are likely. In terms of sky cover, more clouds than sun will remain the rule today but some clearing is likely in the afternoon.
No significant precipitation events are in sight though Fridayhas my eye on it for some pretty warm temps with highs possibly reaching 60!
SW winds will begin to blow today which means an increase in temps today. Expect highs ranging from the low 40’s at the coast to the mid/upper 30’s in the mountains. Today should also be mostly sunny with just a few afternoon high clouds as our next storm moves in. All in all, a pretty nice day though chilly by late march standards.
No significant storms are in sight though some showers/flurries are likely tomorrow.
Today will feature mainly cloudy conditions as a storm passes offshore. The other component of todays forecast will be an inverted trough connected to an offshore storm that looks to set up over the area this afternoon. All areas look to see at least a few flakes but only areas under the heavy snow band associated with the trough look to have a shot at any accumulation given it’s late March and the sun angle is so high. The best shot at accumulations is in eastern MA where snow will be heavier for longer given proximity to the ocean storm.
Northern and Eastern areas will likely see at least a few flakes but any steady snow should be more of a south/west affair.
Highs today will range through the 30’s with the warmest temps right at the coast and lowest in the mountains.
Today will feature some more rain and snow especially in the morning as another weak storm passes along the frontal system to our south. The mountains look to stay mostly dry with this round while the foothills see flakes and the coast sees rain. All precip wraps up midday today but clouds and the isolated sprinkles/flurries will continue through the afternoon hours. A break of sun or two is possible along the coast but organized sun will hold off until tomorrow.
Today will feature a pretty even split between morning and afternoon. The morning will be spectacular with temps already in the upper 30’s and forecast to continue to rise. Clouds will be abundant however but a sunny break or two is likely along the coast mid/late morning. Highs today will be in the 45-55 degree range highest along the coast. By the afternoon hours, any sunny breaks will cloud over and precip looks to move in once again with rain becoming heavy at times this evening.
Rain will transition to snow in the far interior where 3-6″ of accumulation is expected this evening and the rain/snow line will continue to push south tonight reaching the coast by early tomorrow morning though little to no accumulation is expected.
Today will feature even warmer temps as SW winds continue to bring in warmer air. Despite that however, temps this morning are pretty chilly due to much of yesterday’s heat radiating out into space under clear skies and light winds. Highs today will reach the upper 30’s north and low to mid 40’s south. A sunny start is in store but expect clouds to quickly move into the area late morning/early afternoon and a few showers, either rain or snow, are likely by this evening. Along with clouds and temps, winds will also be on the increase out of the SW today as that warmer air continues to move in. Winds are likely to gust over 25 mph today with the highest winds in the afternoon.
Today will feature mostly sunny skies, relaxing winds, and moderating temps. Expect highs to range from the low 30’s in the north to the mid 30’s in the south. In terms of cloud cover, areas in the north have the best shot at seeing cloudy conditions this morning before everyone sees some clouds this afternoon.
The warming trend will continue this week culminating Thursday with some rain and the chance for a rumble of thunder.
Today will feature more of the same in terms of the cold air we’ve been seeing recently. Expect highs in the mountains to rise to near 20 today and at the coast, we’ll see temps right around freezing. A big difference compared to yesterday will be the lack of wind as high pressure builds in so at least it won’t feel quite as cold. Some clouds are around this morning in association with a weak trough moving through but those should dry up in a hurry and the only other cloud threat today will be across the north where a storm up in Canada could throw some clouds our way.
Today’s main weather story will be the wind. Winds will gust in excess of 50 mph region wide today and a wind advisory has been put out for Maine and NH by the NWS in Gray due to the high wind threat. Up in the mountains where an inch or two of snow fell last night, watch for low visibilities to continue today as blowing and drifting takes over. A winter weather advisory is up for the mountains due to the expected blowing and drifting. Temps today will start in the 20’s for most but will fall throughout the day with subzero readings making it all the way to the coast by tomorrow morning.
A slow warmup is in store for this week culminating in some rain showers and a shot at 50 degrees on Thursday.
