I’m a third-year atmospheric science student at Cornell University who has been blogging about the weather since 2011. While I’m not officially a meteorologist, I have accumulated a bit of experience forecasting both local weather (in western Maine and New Hampshire) as well as national/international weather during my time writing for weather.us and weathermodels.com. I also have experience programming in Python, teaching concepts in weather forecasting, and communicating forecast information to general audiences.

More Of The Same Weather Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature an overall continuation of the weather we’ve seen this week so far. Morning satellite imagery shows low clouds and fog entrenched over southern/coastal parts of ME/NH. This fog will quickly burn off as the sun comes up this morning and temps begin to warm up into the 50’s. As temps warm, a sea breeze circulation will develop, keeping the coast in the 50’s while areas farther west in NH see temps rise into the upper 60’s and perhaps even low 70’s. Most areas stay dry again today, with the exception being the foothills/mountains where a weakening line of showers is expected to pass through this evening.

Another Beautiful Spring Day Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature pretty much the exact same weather we saw yesterday as high pressure remains firmly in control of the Northeast. Morning fog and low clouds will burn off to afternoon sunshine across the area, with temps rising into the 60’s by midday. Temps will continue to rise through the afternoon inland, reaching the lower 70’s, while the coastline will cool back down into the upper 50’s as a sea breeze kicks in.

A Lovely Spring Day Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature lovely spring weather with most of the region seeing more sun than clouds along with pleasant temperatures. Look for morning cloudiness across the southern part of the area to gradually fade away this morning as drier air moves in from the north. Temps will warm into the 60’s across most of the area by midday before a sea breeze kicks in along the coast and drives inland to the foothills. This will drop temps back into the 50’s for much of the region outside areas NE of Augusta and SW of Laconia NH. No precip is expected today as a storm passes by well to our southeast.

Cool And Unsettled Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cool and unsettled weather as a storm system pass by to our south. Look for highs a few degrees on either side of 60, with the warmest temps in the north where some breaks of sun are expected early this morning before overcast conditions take over in a few hours. Along with those overcast skies, the storm will bring some rain showers today. Showers are most likely in the mountains, but everyone should see at least a few raindrops. No impacts worthy of note are expected, just some rain. Better weather moves in for tomorrow.

A Beautiful Spring Day Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature beautiful mid-spring weather as a cold front has now moved offshore. Look for westerly breezes this morning to slowly taper off this afternoon as sunny skies prevail outside the mountains, where some upsloping will keep clouds around. Highs will range from 60 in the north to 70 along the NH/SW ME coastline.

Enjoy the beautiful weather!

Showers And Thunderstorms This Afternoon/Evening

Hello everyone!

Today will feature morning breaks of sun before afternoon clouds fill in and showers develop as a cold front approaches the area from the west. Highs will be split from west to east, with southwesterly winds bringing in warm air for NH, and southeasterly winds bringing cool air to much of Maine. Highs in NH will range from the low 70’s north to near 80 south, while Maine’s temps will generally fall within a few degrees of 60, with the exception of cooler temps along the immediate coastline. Showers and thunderstorms will develop from west to east this afternoon, with the strongest storms potentially posing a damaging wind threat in NH.

Improving Conditions Today

Hello everyone!

The upper level low that has brought dreary weather for the past couple days is now finally on its way out today as our first real taste of summer weather waits in the wings to our west. Look for highs to range from the mid 50’s north to the mid 60’s south today with a mix of sun and clouds. That balance will gradually tip farther in favor of sunshine as we head through the afternoon and the low continues to slip east. Some scattered shower activity is possible in the mountains, but most folks should stay dry today.

Highs tomorrow will rise into the 80’s region wide under sunny skies.

Cool And Unsettled Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cool and unsettled weather as an upper level low drifts overhead. Satellite imagery this morning shows sunny skies confined to the coastal plain, with overcast conditions elsewhere. Sunshine should briefly expand into the foothills this afternoon before instability from daytime heating results in more cloud development. That instability will also fuel some showers across the area, particularly in the foothills where the best combination of mild surface temps, cold air aloft, and upper level energy will be located. Some of these showers may produce a rumble of thunder along with graupel or small hail. Showers will die down quickly this evening as temps dip after sunset.

Highs will fall generally in the 50’s today, but temps in any one place will be highly dependent on the location of individual pop-up showers. Areas that see showers will see temps fall this afternoon, while areas that stay dry will also stay warmer.

Cloudy, Cool, And Rainy Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cloudy skies, cool temps, and periods of rain as an upper level low approaches the region from the west. Satellite imagery shows a few limited areas of sunshine north and east of Augusta this morning, and these areas will see the warmest temps in the mid 50’s today. Areas farther SW that are already under cloud cover will see cooler temps, near the 50 degree mark. Rain is already falling across NH this morning, and it will slowly move east into Maine over the next few hours. Expect periods of rain on and off through the afternoon across the entire area, before precipitation becomes spottier in nature this evening.

Morning Clouds And Fog To Burn Off To Afternoon Sunshine Today

Hello everyone!

Low clouds and fog are the name of the game this morning as some low level moisture condensed with cooling temperatures last night. As the sun comes out and temps warm, that fog will burn off, and sunshine is expected to become the prevailing weather condition by midday. While most areas will stay dry through this afternoon, a few showers or even a rumble of thunder will drift into Western NH as a cold front approaches the region from the west. We’ll also have to watch areas along the coastline as a marine layer may develop with drizzle and fog moving ashore later this afternoon into this evening. Highs will be warm as strong heating develops, with temps ranging from 60 in the north to 70 in the south.
