I’m a third-year atmospheric science student at Cornell University who has been blogging about the weather since 2011. While I’m not officially a meteorologist, I have accumulated a bit of experience forecasting both local weather (in western Maine and New Hampshire) as well as national/international weather during my time writing for weather.us and weathermodels.com. I also have experience programming in Python, teaching concepts in weather forecasting, and communicating forecast information to general audiences.
Any sun this morning will quickly fade to overcast skies as a weak storm moves in from the west. Look for rain to struggle to move into the area as very dry air is being reported region wide. The lack of upper level dynamics is also assisting in the rain not making it to the ground this morning. Despite this, do look for raindrops especially across NH and far Western ME this afternoon though any precip will be light. Highs won’t be going too far up today and most of the area looks to be stuck in the 40’s with temps closer to 40 north and closer to 50 south.
Hello everyone!
Our stretch of cool and dry weather continues today with highs in the 40’s north and low 50’s south. A mid level cloud deck lurks over southern NH this morning and should stay south but a few more clouds are possible in southern areas should it drift north. Otherwise, sunny skies will rule today.
The forecast this morning once again isn’t really a shocker- high pressure remains locked in place and therefore we will see another day of mainly sunny skies and cool temps. Highs today look slightly cooler especially over southern areas where some mid to high clouds are likely to temper the sun’s influence. Light onshore flow will also aid in the cooling process for coastal areas. Farther north, clear skies are expected. Highs will be relatively uniform over the region with upper 40’s to low 50’s expected for all. A few mid 50’s are possible in interior southern areas.
Today will pick up where yesterday left in terms of the weather. Look for clear skies and cool temps once again with highs very similar to yesterday’s. Temps should rise into the mid to upper 40’s north and low to mid 50’s south.
Today will feature cool temps, clear skies, and drier air as high pressure works in. Look for highs in the mid to upper 40’s north and low to mid 50’s south under sunny skies. Welcome back to spring!
Winter is making one final push today as a clipper system pushes south of our area. Dew points are currently in the 10’s for most areas outside of western York County where precip has begun. These dry dew points are eating up the precip this morning but when it comes, temps will likely crash to around freezing from current readings in the low to mid 30’s. This is a process known as evaporational cooling.
The end result is that rain and snow moves in over the southern half of the area and a coating-2″ is likely for all involved with 2-4″ in the hills of southern Oxford and York counties. Most of this falls mid morning/early afternoon before tapering to rain showers as temps warm and the low shifts east. Highs will rise into the mid to upper 30’s south and upper 30’s to low 40’s north where some sun could peek out from behind the clouds.
Today will feature a repeat of yesterday with sunny skies, warm temps, and a slight northerly breeze. Look for highs in the low to mid 50’s north and the low to mid 60’s south. Continued dry conditions means fire danger continues to be high so watch for that today.
Don’t be surprised to see snowflakes tomorrow morning as a low slides south.
Today will feature cool temps and breezy conditions under full sun as high pressure builds in. The dry air and breezy winds will again cause dangerous fire weather so be aware of that as you enjoy the day. Highs range through the 50’s region wide today with warmer temps down south.
Today will feature the passage of a cold front which means more clouds, warm temps (for today), and the chance for showers and thunderstorms. Showers are possible beginning in the mid morning hours and radar indicates rain falling across western areas as of 5:30 though surface observations show very dry air in place preventing this rain from reaching the ground. Thunderstorms are likely this afternoon but freezing levels are likely too high and instability too low for significant hail/wind issues. Skies will be mostly cloudy as temps rise through the 60’s for most and into the low 70’s south.
A wonderful spring day is on tap today with sunny skies, light winds, and warm temps. Look for highs in the low 70’s away from the coast with upper 60’s along the immediate shoreline. With high pressure firmly in control, today sure is shaping up to be great weather wise. Enjoy it!
