Beautiful Spring Weather On Tap For Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature beautiful spring weather as Canadian high pressure builds in from the northwest. Look for light WNW breezes to keep us dry and warm, all the way to the coastline as the effects of any marine circulation will be limited to the peninsulas/islands. Look for temps to warm to about 65 in the mountains and about 75 along the coastal plain. Sunny skies will be the rule today due to that high pressure area.

Morning Clouds And Showers Clear To Afternoon Sunshine

Hello everyone!

Today will feature the passage of a cold front, which will drive a change from morning clouds to afternoon sunshine. Along the front itself, some showers are expected in the mountains mid morning, and along the coast around lunchtime. Areas SW of Portland could see a rumble of thunder with those showers, but no severe weather is expected. Temps will continue to rise for most areas after the front passes as downsloping NW winds and clearing skies help combat the cooler incoming airmass with highs ranging from 60 in the north to around 80 on the southern coastal plain.

Rain Arrives Today

Hello everyone!

Morning sunshine across much of the state will give way to clouds by midday, and rain by this afternoon as a weak storm system approaches our area from the southwest. Look for rain to arrive in SW NH early this afternoon, with precip filling in across Maine by the evening. Temps will fall along a SW-NE gradient today as southwestern areas see little if any sunshine, and northeastern areas hold onto the clear skies for the longest. Expect highs to range from the mid 40’s southwest to around 60 near Augusta.

Another Cool And Dry Spring Day Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature more cool temps and dry conditions as Canadian high pressure builds in from the north. While high pressure is located to our north, low pressure is located to our south across the Mid Atlantic. This will set up a north-south gradient in cloudiness today, with the north remaining mostly sunny, and areas near the NH/MA border remaining mostly cloudy. Areas in between will see a mix of sun and clouds. Temps will be warmest in the foothills today, with highs there in the low 60’s. Temps along the coast and in the mountains will sit between 55 and 60 degrees. No precipitation is expected today.

Slowly Improving Weather Today

Hello everyone!

This morning, satellite imagery shows cloudy skies present across the vast majority of the region as a weak area of low pressure develops off the Mid Atlantic coast. These clouds will slowly pull southeast through the day today, resulting in slowly clearing skies. The mountains will be the first to see some sunny breaks, with the coastline hanging onto the clouds the longest.

While the upper level pattern drives cloud cover, a frontal boundary closer to the surface will drive temperatures today. Northwest of the front, cool air is moving in from Canada on northwesterly winds. Southeast of the front, warmer air is moving in on southwesterly winds. The front will slowly advance towards the coast today, with the mountains seeing cool temps just shy of 60 and the coastline seeing much warmer temps near 70.

Little if any precipitation is expected today as drier air works in from the north.

More Pleasant Spring Weather Today

Hello everyone!

Our recent stretch of lovely weather, albeit briefly interrupted by yesterday afternoon’s shower activity, will continue today as high pressure anchors itself to our north. A storm system will try to get going to our south today, and will spread clouds into the southern part of the area as it does so, but no precipitation is expected. Temps will range from the low 60’s north and east where sunshine will generally prevail to the low 50’s along the southern coastline where cloudiness and marine influences will conspire to keep temps down.

Sunny In The North And Cloudy In The South Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature sunny skies in the north and cloudy skies in the south as a low pressure system moves through the Mid Atlantic States. Some of those clouds may drop some raindrops over parts of southern NH, but overall we should stay mostly dry today. Temps will depend largely on duration of sunshine. Areas in the far north that stay mostly sunny will see the warmest temps near 60. Central areas that see a mix of sun and clouds will see temps near 55, and far southern areas that see mostly cloudy conditions will see temps near 50.

More Cool And Pleasant Weather Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature cool and pleasant weather as last night’s cold front is now well offshore. Look for mainly sunny skies, cool temps ranging from 50 in the north to 60 in the south, and a northwesterly breeze to keep any marine influences to a minimum. While temps inland will be cooler than recent days, today will be the nicest in a while for the coastline where the sea breeze will be kept at bay.

Enjoy the beautiful weather!

More Of The Same Weather Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature an overall continuation of the weather we’ve seen this week so far. Morning satellite imagery shows low clouds and fog entrenched over southern/coastal parts of ME/NH. This fog will quickly burn off as the sun comes up this morning and temps begin to warm up into the 50’s. As temps warm, a sea breeze circulation will develop, keeping the coast in the 50’s while areas farther west in NH see temps rise into the upper 60’s and perhaps even low 70’s. Most areas stay dry again today, with the exception being the foothills/mountains where a weakening line of showers is expected to pass through this evening.
