Hello everyone!
Today’s weather at the most basic level is rain-sun-rain. In fact the existence of the morning rain will cause the sun which will in turn cause the afternoon rain believe it or not.
Rain and fog this morning will be clearing out as we head toward midday due to a boundary shifting offshore. Meanwhile, warm moist air continues to surge northward as the remnants of TS Bonnie connect with an approaching front. We likely will see a period of sunshine this afternoon as the morning rain moves offshore taking with it the marine layer. This will destabilize the atmosphere by heating the surface. Storms will likely fire along the approaching front and there is some upper level support for convection in an 80kt jet streak at 250mb. Small hail and gusty winds are possible in any of the stronger storms. Highs today will range from the lower 70’s near the coast to upper 70’s inland but it will warmer due to high humidity.
