Another early season snow event is now underway in the mountains and foothills of Western Maine and NH. Temps in the mountains and upper foothills are hovering right around or a little below freezing, with temps in the upper 30’s to low 40’s along the coast. This general temperature distribution will be the name of the game for most of the day today as snow accumulates in the mountains and the coast gets treated to a chilly rain. As far as accumulations go, the peaks should see a solid 4-8″, with amounts closer to 3-6″ in the valleys. 2-4″ is a good bet for the upper foothills, with a coating-2″ for the lower foothills (closer to the coast).
Rain and snow will depart later this afternoon as gusty NW winds develop.
