Unfortunately, warm and muggy air is on its way back into the region today as winds flip around to the southwest ahead of our next cold front. Look for mostly sunny skies across the area this morning to give way to more clouds this afternoon and evening as the front approaches. High temps will range from the low 60s along the Midcoast where gusty onshore winds will keep things cool to the low 80s over most of the foothills. Dewpoints, unfortunately, will creep up towards 60 by this evening after starting out in the wonderful 40s and 50s this morning. While most shower and thunderstorm activity will remain to our northwest today, a few showers can’t be ruled out over the mountains this evening.
Today gets a perfect 10/10 from me as the sun shines brightly, temps stay comfortably cool, and there is no humidity in sight. Look for highs ranging from the upper 50s along the Midcoast peninsulas to the low 70s over interior central NH as a robust sea breeze develops this afternoon. Most of us should spend most of the day in the 60s. Enjoy the lovely weather!
Today will feature a wonderful change in atmospheric conditions as the first gross muggy airmass of the season gets kicked back to where it belongs by a Canadian cold front. The front is entering the mountains as I write this around 10 AM with clouds and a band of scattered showers. As the front sinks farther south into more unstable air, expect more showers and some thunderstorms to develop over the next couple hours especially south of Fryeburg-Augusta-Belfast. Some storms may be able to produce some gusty winds, but no widespread severe weather risk is anticipated.
After storms move off to the south midday, northerly breezes will carry much nicer air into the region this afternoon and clouds will give way to mostly sunny skies as the drier air arrives.
Temps will range from dangerously close to 90 over southern NH to the mid 70s up in the mountains.
Today will feature temps that will range from warm to downright hot for everyone except the Midcoast as another cold front drifts our way. This front actually has a little bit of moisture to work with, hence the clouds you’re probably seeing outside this morning. Those clouds will stick around for most of the day until slightly drier air tries to push in from the north this afternoon. Along with the clouds will come a few showers, some of which might grow tall enough to produce some rumbles of thunder. Overall though the severe thunderstorm threat is low today. Temps will once again struggle towards 60 along the Midcoast with cool onshore flow and patchy fog while the mountains head for the upper 70s to low 80s and the foothill/coastal plain west of I-95 will soar into the mid to upper 80s.
Also, it is with great sadness that I can report for the first time this season you’ll probably feel some humidity this afternoon as dew points creep towards the dreaded 60F mark.
After a pause in our recent warming trend yesterday for some cool breezes off the ocean, most of the region will see milder air today as a weak cold front shifts winds more towards the west. This front is producing some clouds and a few light showers this morning, both of which should depart in the next couple hours. As temps rise into the low 80s up in the mountains and mid to upper 80s over parts of the foothills, a sea breeze will develop and attempt to push inland. As of now, it looks like this boundary will set up somewhere in the vicinity of I-95 with pleasantly cool temps in the high 60s to mid 70s east of the front and downright hot air to the west. As per usual for this time of year, the Midcoast will win the air conditioning lottery and Camden probably won’t be able to get out of the 50s.
After morning clouds clear out, a few more will be spilling over the ridge from Canada. While most of us should see more sunshine than clouds this afternoon, it won’t quite be a bluebird day. After morning showers over the coastal plain and eastern foothills subside, most of us should be dry for the rest of the day though just enough instability might develop to support a brief shower over the mountains this afternoon.
Better chances for showers and thunderstorms will arrive this weekend.
Today will feature another day of really nice weather, though high pressure will slip off to our southeast this afternoon which means winds will turn more onshore. As a result, the sea breeze front will be able to push all the way into the mountains and temps will be noticeably cooler than yesterday for most spots, the exception being far northern and western areas. Highs will range from the mid 50s near Camden where some patchy fog is possible to the low 80s in the CT Valley and up near the Canadian border. Most of the area will see temps in the low to mid 70s. Skies will start off mostly sunny but clouds will bubble up in the afternoon especially over the mountains as some weak instability develops. A few of those clouds will produce some brief showers this afternoon but even where some drops do fall, most of the day will end up dry and nice.
With mostly sunny skies and temps climbing into the 70s and 80s across the area, I’m calling this the first day of summer weather. A sea breeze will provide some refreshment to the coast this afternoon, but otherwise temps will climb easily into the mid 70s for most of the area with southern NH and adjacent parts of interior SW ME pushing into the low/mid 80s. No precip is expected today as high pressure slides overhead.
Today will feature seasonably warm weather as mild air continues to spill into the region from the west. A cold front is sliding through the region this morning, bringing a couple scattered showers to areas east of I-95, but there really isn’t much cold air behind it. Instead, we’ll just have downsloping northwesterly breezes pushing temps into the upper 60s up north and upper 70s along the coast. Parts of southern NH will likely make a run at 80. The front will linger just long enough that the immediate shorelines may see a couple showers or thunderstorms pop up early this afternoon, but otherwise dry conditions are expected. Skies will feature a mix of sun and clouds with the brightest conditions expected in southwestern spots later this afternoon.
Today will feature another round of afternoon showers as we go through another cycle of instability developing with daytime heating. Look for mostly sunny skies to push temps into the low to mid 70s for most of the area this morning before clouds and showers bubble up this afternoon. As with the past few days, not everyone will get a shower but those who do may also see a rumble of thunder and some gusty winds. Showers will fade with the setting sun this evening.
Today will feature another round of afternoon showers as morning sunshine adds instability to the atmosphere. Generally speaking, there will be more in the way of clouds and showers this afternoon than yesterday afternoon, but even so, not everyone will see rain. Those that do may also see thunder and gusty winds, but there’s not quite enough instability or wind in the upper levels of the atmosphere to support severe weather.
Temps will range from around 60 along the midcoast to around 65 in the mountains to around 75 in the foothills and interior parts of the coastal plain. Just like yesterday, a sea breeze will push fairly far inland during the afternoon with cooler air.
