Warmer weather is moving in today as high pressure remains firmly anchored over our area. Light NW breezes will keep any sea breeze at bay, and downsloping off the mountains will further help warm temperatures along the coastal plain. Highs will range from the upper 60’s north to the upper 70’s south with a few 80 degree readings possible in the typical SW warm spots. Skies will be mostly sunny today with no precipitation expected.

Today will feature sunny skies and cool temperatures as high pressure moves into the area and the cold air aloft that fueled showers and storms the past few days moves out. There will be some gusty winds along the leading edge of that high pressure, and more wind gusts to 20 or 25 mph are expected today out of the west. Highs will range through the 60’s with the coolest temps in the mountains. I can’t rule out a brief shower along the coastal plain this afternoon, but coverage and intensity of those showers will be much less than in previous days.

We’re looking at nearly a carbon copy of yesterday’s weather as cold air aloft will trigger some more pop up afternoon showers/storms. High temps will range from near 60 north to near 70 south with mostly sunny skies this morning giving way to more clouds this afternoon. Winds will again be light, but present, out of the northwest.

Today will feature more of yesterday’s cool and breezy conditions as another cold front moves through. Thankfully this second cold front won’t have enough moisture for widespread rain, though an isolated brief shower can’t be ruled out. Highs will remain stuck in the 60’s region wide with the coolest temps in the north. Skies will start mainly sunny before the incoming cold front brings in a little cloud cover as we head into the afternoon hours.

Today will feature morning rain clearing out to afternoon sunshine. This afternoon sunshine will allow for a little instability to develop this afternoon and this instability will support some pop up afternoon showers. A few of these showers could manage a rumble or two of thunder, but otherwise no issues are expected as they die down near sunset. Highs will generally range through the 70’s as westerly winds develop. These winds will be bringing in cooler air, though they’ll also be downsloping off the mountains which will result in the warmer temps today. Those westerly winds could become a little gusty this afternoon, but shouldn’t cause any problems.

Hello everyone!

Today will feature more clouds than sun along with the threat for torrential downpours as a cold front slowly moves through the region. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and near this cold front and will be able to take advantage of copious amounts of moisture. Due to the fact that we won’t have too much sunshine today, severe weather is not expected to be a primary concern, though a few storms capable of some gusty winds are entirely possible. The main threat will be for thunderstorms to “train” or pass over the same areas repeatedly. This often results in flash flooding, a possibility we’ll definitely be watching for today.

Storms will continue into the night as an area of low pressure developing along the front moves into the area.

Today will feature strong to severe thunderstorms as a strong cold front slowly approaches our area. Storms will develop to our west later this morning before moving into NH early this afternoon. Because the front will be slowing down, storms won’t arrive in Maine until the late afternoon or early evening. Storms will be strong to severe as they move through, and the biggest threat will be damaging wind gusts. Hail and tornadoes are unlikely, but can never be ruled out. Temperatures will be much warmer today ranging from the mid 70’s in the north and along the midcoast to the mid 80’s in southern NH. Dew points will be slightly muggy as SW winds whisk more humid air into the region.

The front will stall near the coast tonight leading to continued chances for strong storms and heavy rains tomorrow.

The last of last night’s rain is departing this morning as low pressure moves into Canada. We’ll be left with clearing skies and warming temps as southwesterly winds develop ahead of an approaching cold front. Look for highs generally ranging through the 70’s with a few low 80’s expected in the south.

The cold front will move into the area tomorrow bringing the threat for showers and thunderstorms, some of which are expected to be severe.

Hello everyone!

Long after it devastated the Texas coast, Hurricane Harvey weakened to a tropical storm and moved northeast. In fact, it moved so far northeast, that it’s arriving in Maine today. The remnants of Harvey will be the primary influence on our weather today and its remnant tropical moisture will bring some much-needed rains to the area this afternoon. Dry air is in place, which means that while precipitation is falling from the sky, it’s not making it to the ground. This will likely continue until around noon at which point we’ll start to see some sustained showers. The rain will go off and on through the afternoon before tapering off this evening. Expect high temperatures to be limited to the upper 50’s as winds blow straight in off the cold Gulf of Maine.

Much better weather is expected for tomorrow.

Today will feature warmer weather as the core of the yesterday’s cold airmass moves away to the east. Winds will relax too as high pressure moves over the area. Skies will be mainly clear, except for in the south this evening where high cirrus clouds will move in ahead of a storm system set to arrive tomorrow. Highs today will range from the upper 60’s north to mid 70’s south.
