Cooler With More Clouds Today

Hello everyone!

I can say with fairly high confidence that yesterday was the last time we will see widespread highs in the 90’s until next summer. That was brutal! For those who join me in disliking air you can drink, there’s a lot of good news in the forecast this week, beginning today. A warm front will approach the region this morning with a scattered shower or two possible. Sun currently being seen this morning is likely to give way to overcast skies by mid day. Winds will become breezy out of the SE by this evening which will move marine air well inland. As a result, highs will be uniformly in the 70’s with low stratus and some fog possible especially towards this evening. Showers and thunderstorms will approach the area from the west later this evening and into the overnight hours. The soupy airmass that will be in place by then (PWATs near 2″) will lead to the greatest threat being from heavy rain. The stable marine layer will limit any severe threat though with impressive jet dynamics a stray wind gust can’t be ruled out over Western NH. Rumbles of thunder are also possible.

Looking ahead, brisk (30mph) NW winds will bring in cool, dry air tomorrow. This lovely airmass will stick around through Monday and Tuesday will be warmer with SW winds. This, however, will be brief as a strong cold front, the strongest we’ve seen so far this season, will slice through the area Wednesday evening with crisp air for Thursday into the weekend. A slow warming trend is likely for the weekend.

Warm And Muggy Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature morning clouds clearing to afternoon sun along with warm to hot temps and continued high humidity. A shower is possible early this morning as the wind shift line sometimes called a “cold” front finishes moving through. There isn’t a whole lot of cold or even dry air behind the front which will make today pretty awful especially by September standards. Highs will range from the upper 70’s north to the upper 80’s south and while westerly downsloping winds may help to dry out the air, dew points remain near 70 this morning so there’s a lot of work to be done. Some southern NH areas are likely to touch 90.

If you’re like me and definitely opposed to this stifling weather in September, just be patient. By Thursday, highs may only be in the 60’s. Winter is coming.

Chance For Showers This Evening Into Tonight

Hello everyone!

Current observations show widespread dense fog this morning as ex-Hermine’s dying circulation continues to keep winds off the water bringing in moisture. Dense fog this morning will give way to partly sunny skies by afternoon with the most sun away from the coast. Clouds will move in again by evening ahead of a line of showers and thunderstorms that will move in from the west this evening and into tonight. They don’t look to be super strong but some rumbles and downpours are definitely possible with the greatest chance in western NH. Showers will move offshore by sunrise tomorrow. Highs today will rise to near 80 away from the coast with low to mid 70’s along the coast.

More Clouds With The Chance For Drizzle Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature conditions a lot like yesterday as plenty of moisture remains in the low to mid levels of the atmosphere. Lots of clouds are again likely along with some patchy drizzle and a few light showers. Coverage of both is likely to be less than yesterday and breaks of afternoon sun should be more plentiful but it won’t exactly be picture perfect. Highs will once again range through the 70’s with the warmest temps west where more sun is likely.

Cool With Lots Of Clouds Today

Hello everyone!

Hermine remains to our south this morning and is drifting west in the waters off Long Island. Moisture in the mid levels is streaming north on the eastern flank of the system which means lots of clouds for us. As the system continues to decay, I expect that at least a few of these clouds will begin to dry up so some peeks of sun are certainly possible especially this afternoon and especially in the mountains. Radar is showing batches of drizzle along the coast associated with a frontal boundary that is trying to shift winds from NE to SE. Whether or not this boundary actually makes it to the coast is uncertain but we will likely keep the threat for drizzle through this morning and into the early afternoon hours. The drizzle threat is greatest along the coast though a few sprinkles/showers are showing up in the foothills as well. Highs today will range through the 70’s today with the warmest temps in western areas where sun is most likely to show up this afternoon and evening.

Cloudier And Breezier Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature more clouds, a stronger NE breeze, and possibly a shower or two for the southern coast courtesy of Post-Tropical Storm Hermine. Look for highs today to range from the mid 60’s in the north to the mid 70’s in western NH where more sun will be present. Mostly cloudy skies are already being reported along the coast and clouds are likely to continue to spread NW through the day today. NE winds will become breezy with gusts to 25mph possible. A shower or two could approach the coastline this evening. The biggest impact from Hermine will be large waves which will build to near/over 10 feet by tonight in any exposed waters. This will create a very high risk for rip currents to please be aware if heading to the beach today.

Another Lovely Day Today

Hello everyone!

Today’s beautiful weather is brought to you by Post-Tropical cyclone Hermine. Tons of air is rising in the storm creating lots of bad weather. What goes up must come down and therefore there’s a lot of sinking air over us. Sinking air means high pressure and nice weather and that’s the forecast for today. Look for sunny skies, light to breeze NE winds, and temps warming into the 70’s. A few clouds could sneak into southern areas this evening as Hermine tries to retrograde west towards the Mid-Atlantic but otherwise, sun will be the rule. Enjoy the lovely weather!

Increasing Clouds Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature increasing clouds as well as the development of an easterly breeze, both of which will be tied to Tropical Storm Hermine which is well to our south. Look for the easterly wind to keep temps down as it blows maritime air inland. Highs will generally rise into the 70’s but not much more than that though a couple of readings in the low 80’s are possible in far W NH. Cirrus clouds will spread northward through the day filtering the sunshine but high thin clouds ahead of Hermine have a history of producing amazing sunsets so be on the lookout for a show this evening.

Hermine will continue to stay well south of the region with the only impacts being elevated swell, a few extra clouds, and some easterly breezes.

Cool And Quiet Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature mainly sunny skies, light north winds, and cool temps. Look for highs in the upper 60’s north and upper 70’s south as light northerly breezes continue to bring in cooler and drier air from Canada. No precip is expected today and clouds will be scattered at best. Not a whole lot else to say other than you should go out and enjoy the lovely day!
