We’ll get to enjoy one more day on the cooler side today as northwesterly breezes continue to filter through the region. Look for a weak upslope/downslope pattern with overcast skies NW of the mountains and partly to mostly sunny skies southeast of the mountains. High temps will range from 30 in the north to near 40 at the coast with dry conditions expected regionwide.
Ever curious what the upslope/downslope pattern I always talk about actually looks like? Here it is on satellite imagery this morning. You can see the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Washington and the Presidentials clearly interrupting the flow of the low clouds to the northwest. Other mountains that don’t stand out quite as much are accomplishing similar effects, for example Sugarloaf, Saddleback, and the Franconia Range in NH. Pretty cool stuff!
Much warmer weather unfortunately arrives tomorrow.
