Hello everyone!

We’ll sit in a bit of weather limbo today as a tropical storm develops off the NC coast to our south, high pressure slips offshore to our east, and another cold front starts crossing the Great Lakes to our west. None of these systems will be close enough or strong enough to totally dominate our weather, so they’ll have to share. The tropical storm thankfully looks to be moving northeast away from the coast as it gets going later today. That said, it will influence our weather by adding a lot of moisture to the air (more aloft than at the surface thankfully) to our south. The high pressure system will keep the heaviest/steadiest rain to our south, but won’t be able to keep us entirely dry. That’s because the third system, that cold front over the Great Lakes, will add a south-southeasterly component to the winds which will push the moisture, clouds, and showers from the Gulf of Maine onshore.

Right now, it looks like southern/coastal areas will see the brunt of the clouds and showers, though clouds are thickest over NH this morning. Showers are most likely this afternoon, and while they may be heavy at times they won’t last super long in any given place. Head to the northeastern foothills or mountains for better chances of sun and dry conditions.

The clouds will hold temps down a bit especially near the coast, with highs in the low to mid 60s near the coast and upper 60s to low 70s up north.
