Cold Front Approaches Today

Hello everyone!

Today will feature the approach of a seasonably strong cold front which will put an end to our latest run of mild weather. We’re well into October now which means the atmospheric juice needed to support thunderstorms is hard to come by, but there will be just enough instability to support a few pop-up showers especially along the coastal plain northeast of Portland this afternoon. Before the front arrives, some showers and clouds from earlier this morning will depart to the northeast leaving breezy southwest winds and clearing skies across most of the area with some thicker clouds remaining in the mountains. High temps will occur on the earlier side especially in the north and west where mid/high 50s this morning will give way to 40s this evening. Down along the coast, downsloping and patchy sunshine will support highs in the mid to upper 60s before temps fall later this afternoon/evening.
