Hello everyone!
We get a few of these days every spring and early summer here in northern New England. The forecast calls for sunshine and low to mid 80s in Connecticut, 70s in central MA, and afternoon thunderstorms in Burlington VT. But us? We’re drawing our air straight from the Gulf of Maine behind a shallow but potent backdoor cold front that snuck in from the northeast yesterday. That means low clouds, patchy fog, drizzle, and temps in the low to mid 40s for most of the area. Thunderstorms forming to our west will approach the area this evening, but will run into the brick wall of stable maritime air and should fall apart quickly after crossing the CT river. There will be some leftover showers though, arriving in western NH around 4-5 PM before moving into Maine closer to sunset.
