I’m a third-year atmospheric science student at Cornell University who has been blogging about the weather since 2011. While I’m not officially a meteorologist, I have accumulated a bit of experience forecasting both local weather (in western Maine and New Hampshire) as well as national/international weather during my time writing for weather.us and weathermodels.com. I also have experience programming in Python, teaching concepts in weather forecasting, and communicating forecast information to general audiences.
Today will feature clearing skies with a break in the winds from around 7-8am. Then winds will resume except that they will be from the WNW brining in cooler air. Temperatures will top out near 50 at daybreak before a dramatic cool down this afternoon.
Christmas is now came and gone but we all start the New years rush. Travelling and partying, staying up until midnight and of course for us meteorologists the start to the notorious snowy months of January and Febuary. We are watching several storms in the coming week. The first will hit on wednesday with heavy rain and strong winds. Number 2 on the storm production line will hit Friday into New Years Eve with light snow.
I would like to thank everyone who veiws my blog and everyone who has subscribed to it. I would also love to wish everyone a very merry christmas and a happy new year. What to expect out the window christmas morning:
Cloudy with scattered flurries in the afternoon. Temperatures around freezing.

As the start to the holiday weekend has arrived, likely everyone, or close to everyone has done most of their traveling by now. I know that no one wants to face the upcoming travel rush back home, but it will happen and here is a daily forecast for the busy travel days.

The week leading up to the new year will feature 2 main storm systems. One will hit wenesday and continue into thursday. The second is slated to hit Friday.
These systems are far out in the forecast and we will continue to monitor the latest forecasts
As I write this, the snow/rain line is bouncing around. It is frusterating to watch the rain.snow line retreating a few miles up the coast, and have it advancing on me. Snow/rain will wrap up around noon today with flurries and showers remaining this afternoon.
5 day forecast as of 6:15 am Friday
Tonight: Few snow showers with temps in the teens.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with highs in the 20s and lows around 10
Christmas: Mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the lower 20s

As we look ahead into the 7 day forecast, it looks like a quiet week leading up to NewYears day. Exept, for Friday, when a storm system passes off to the south. This should bring 1-3″ of snow for much of the area. Saturday looks quiet and cool with temps topping out near 30. Also there is a possible storm for wendsday.
