Another hot day is in store for much of the region today, though a backdoor cold front will be providing some relief from the heat for the coastline. Morning clouds will gradually clear out this afternoon, with rising temperatures across the area. High pressure is located to our east this morning, which means we’ll see more of an onshore component to the winds today, especially across Maine and southeast New Hampshire. Western NH will remain locked into southwesterly flow which will drive another day of near-100 degree temperatures along with oppressive humidity. Temperatures will be much more moderate along the coast, with highs in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. A late day shower or thunderstorm can’t be ruled out in the western mountains, but no widespread activity is expected.
