Heat And Humidity Redevelop Along The Coast Today

Hello everyone!

I hope coastal folks who don’t enjoy stifling heat and humidity enjoyed their break in the action yesterday. A weak frontal boundary passed through the region last night, and winds behind the boundary have turned westerly. These offshore breezes will offset any attempts at a marine circulation, which means even the coast gets to suffer today. Mainly sunny skies will drive temps into the upper 80’s/lower 90’s for most, with the peninsulas of the Midcoast and the mountains remaining a little cooler, in the mid 80’s. Dew points will remain firmly in the oppressive category today, with heat index values soaring over 95 for a good part of the area. Heat advisories have been issued as a result, so remember to stay hydrated. A late day shower or thunderstorm can’t be ruled out in the southern part of the area, but once again skies should remain mostly dry through this evening with no strong trigger mechanism to get air rising to form thunderstorms.
