Today will feature morning sunshine unfortunately giving way to afternoon clouds and rain as low pressure passes north of the area. This low will be trying to draw warm air north, but the progress of that warm air will be slowed by the mountains. This “mini cold-air-damming” will lead to cool temps up north, around 45, with warm temps in the south, around 60.
Rain showers will arrive from southwest to northeast late this morning, arriving in Portland around noon. Arrival times in SW NH will be a couple hours earlier, with arrival in northern/eastern areas being a couple hours later. Rain by and large will not be heavy. Keep an eye on the showers with radar imagery from weather.us. Rain chances will remain on the higher side through the evening hours, though no one location will see steady rain for the entire afternoon.
