Hello everyone!

Today will feature mild temps for most of the region as warm air surges north ahead of an approaching cold front. Winds ahead of this front have a slight easterly component, so the coast will generally be missing out on the warmer temps due to the influence of the still-cold Gulf of Maine. Highs along the immediate coast south of Portland and along the entire coastal plain north of Portland will sit in the mid 40’s. Farther north in the mountains, the still-deep snowpack will also hold temps to between 40 and 45 degrees. If you’re not near the ocean or the mountains though, and you happen to be SW of Lewiston, you’ll get access to much warmer temps in the mid to upper 50’s. In fact, some parts of Southern NH could spike up into the 60’s if they can get a few sunny breaks this afternoon. Any sunny breaks will be the exception not the rule today as clouds from the front remain widespread.

As for precipitation, we will get some as the front crosses the area this afternoon. Showers will arrive in western NH around noon, moving into Maine about an hour and a half to two hours later. Showers will fall as rain except above 3,500 feet, where a couple inches of snow is possible. Rain and snow will depart from west to east early in the evening, with perhaps a break of sun or two before sunset.

Cooler and drier weather will arrive behind the front for the first half of the work week.
