Today will feature some really lovely spring weather as a series of weak cold fronts slide through the area. Winds will pick up again this afternoon, but will be more from the west than the northwest at least in most spots. This means that there will be less cool air moving into the area, and more of an opportunity for downsloping to boost temps alongside the strong May sun. Look for highs today to range from the upper 50s up in the mountains to mid/upper 60s across much of the foothills-Belfast corridor to mid 70s south of Portland. With westerly breezes taking hold over the area, it will be tough for the sea breeze to make much inland progress this afternoon so even coastal areas will be able to get in on some of the warmth. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny today with the best chance for overcast this morning along the midcoast and this afternoon in southern NH where a few spotty showers are possible.
