Clouds Increase Today Ahead Of Approaching Cold Front

Hello everyone!

Today will feature increasing cloud cover as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will be siphoning some tropical moisture from TS Erin, located well offshore, as it approaches the area which means that once the rain starts this evening, it will be very heavy. As far as timing for rain goes, expect a start time in the late afternoon (4 PM ish) across Southern NH, the mid evening (7-8 PM) in Central NH and SW ME, and later in the evening (9-11 PM) for points farther north and east. The rain tonight will feature embedded thunder, but no severe weather. If you have a basement that floods easily, today is a great time to dust off the sump pump and check to make sure your system is working properly.

As far as temps go today, they’ll be warmer than recent days ranging from a few degrees above 70 in the northeastern part of Maine to a few degrees above 80 in SW NH. You’ll also notice an uptick in humidity especially this evening as dew points rise above the 60 degree threshold.

Drier weather returns tomorrow.
