Pleasant Air Returns Today

Hello everyone!

For the past several days, we’ve been dealing with hot temperatures and increased humidity, especially away from the coastline. Thankfully, a cold front is on our doorstep this morning and is ready to bring a more pleasant airmass into the region from Canada. Along the front itself, a few showers are possible in the next couple hours up in the mountains, and a little closer to noon along the coast. The best chance for showers will be in eastern parts of the area. Not everyone will see rain, and for those that do, it won’t last long.

Satellite imagery this morning shows breaks of sun beginning to develop in southern NH and adjacent parts of SW ME. Areas downwind of the mountains will clear first, followed by the higher summits later this afternoon.

Temps today will still be on the warmer side, especially in southern NH which will remain ahead of the front until around noon. There, expect high temps in the lower 80s. Most of the Maine coast should top out between 75 and 80 while the mountains stay cooler around 65-70.

Drier air will also be moving into the region today with dew points falling from the 60s this morning into the 30s by this afternoon.
